What is S&W's official reason for not magazines for M&P 15-22's?

Friends,
I'm feeling a bit duped here. I Bought what seems to be a 22LR nice rifle to get some affordable range time while we wait out the ammo shortages. But I didn't know that S&W (or anyone aftermarket) stopped making magazines for it.\
I know that the costs of the ammo metals are up and scarce. But, the M&P 15-22 magazines are very low-tech, super simple molded plastic. What is the holdup? I'm starting to wish I bought a Ruger or HK 22LR instead. Ruger 22LR mags are available everywhere.
Anyway, holding out a little longer before switching to another 22LR rifle with available magazines. Very disappointed in S&W. Please share any news about this if you have it.

It isn't just metal in short supply - it is EVERYTHING world-wide. Kia/Hyundai, for example, has shutdown their GA/AL car plants because of chips and material shortages. There are hundreds of cargo ships waiting to get offloaded but no truckers to deliver the goods; this is not going away anytime soon.

Midway is out of stock with no back order.

What does that infer 'blocked or pinned to 10 rounds'??? Why would you buy a 20 round mag that only holds 10? I don't get that.
The ad says they hold 25 rounds but are pinned to ten rounds. Maybe the pin is removeable without too much difficulty. I dunno but a 10 round mag is better than no mag.

I have had a 15-22 since 2013. Magazines for it have never been plentiful at gun shops, so I got mine on the internet. Many web retailers have a way to be notified when the item you want is in stock, so sign up for notifications.
There used to be 2 aftermarket manufacturers of magazines for these. ProMag made a nice 32 round mag, but was hit with a patent infringement lawsuit by S&W and ceased production back in 2013. The other was made by Plinker tactical and was a 35 round magazine. They were also ordered to cease production a year or 2 ago because of patent infringement, but it was Magpul that took the legal action.

i just called S&W customer support. The lady on the phone said that they are selling so many of the 15-22 rifles that every magazine they make are going on the new rifles. When they catch up (or rifle sales slow), they are again offer the magazines for individual sales. It looks like they are not willing to increase the production of the magazines during this demand. As long as the 15-22 rifles are being sold at this rate, then our extra mags will not be available.

Did they say every magazine they make, or every magazine they get? I am not sure that S&W makes the magazines. They might, or it may be contracted out. The packaging says made in USA.

I guess I was REALLY lucky. I bought my rifle in March and ordered two more 25 rd mags in mid March from Midwestgunworks for 24.89 each. I must have gotten some of the last before the supply dried up. It was just a few weeks later when I decided I wanted some 10 rd also and discovered there were none to be had, 10 rd. nor 25 rd. I feel bad a friend tried my rifle and liked it so much he bought one the week after me. He is stuck with just the magazine that came with it. He goes to the range with me so I loan him one so we each have two for the day. I did find ONE 10rd which is all I really needed, for zeroing in sites with a short bipod.

I wish I could find the MP 15-22 10 Rd Magazines. They are impossible to find as well. I called S&W and they cant even give you a timeline of when they will be receiving them. They just said to check back in a few weeks. WTF?
