I have a 57 apart and when I removed the slide spring, inside the coil was a SS pin. Since I've never seen this before in a S&W I thought I would ask. The trigger felt 100% normal, other than being gummy due to old oil. The revolver did not appear to ever have been disassembled after leaving the factory and has had minimal use..so is this pin something someone added (but why?) or could it have possibly been overlooked during assembly, and since it didn't affect the function was never found? OR..is the pin something that should be in the slide spring for a model 57? I looked on Numrich at their diagrams and saw no mention of this pin. There are no missing pins on the frame...but it does look like it could be one of them that somehow got into the coil at the factory? Anyone?
