I have a 57 apart and when I removed the slide spring, inside the coil was a SS pin. Since I've never seen this before in a S&W I thought I would ask. The trigger felt 100% normal, other than being gummy due to old oil. The revolver did not appear to ever have been disassembled after leaving the factory and has had minimal use..so is this pin something someone added (but why?) or could it have possibly been overlooked during assembly, and since it didn't affect the function was never found? OR..is the pin something that should be in the slide spring for a model 57? I looked on Numrich at their diagrams and saw no mention of this pin. There are no missing pins on the frame...but it does look like it could be one of them that somehow got into the coil at the factory? Anyone?

Hmm..I've had a few 28s apart and none of mine had a pin in there..and I've had dozens of other K,L and N frames apart...and never had a pin in the slide spring.

But..anythings possible...could they all have had those pins eliminated? What is the pins function?

Ok..I suppose I'll just put it back in there. I'm leaving the springs stock...this is one gun I won't be keeping as I have NO 41 magnums or ammo.. and I am not journeying into that family of guns. iI is a beauty though..just wish it was a 27 or a 29...then t would not be leaving..;)

I found a trigger stop pin in an old model 29 some years ago. I decided to remove it during reassembly with no ill effects. This is the only one that I have encountered in the many S&W guns that I have owned.

I have found a few of them it is what was posted above about a stop. Makes no real difference to me. You make them out of a old drill bit.

Puzzled me the first time I found one as I changed out most of my rebound springs.
