How old is this revolver and what is it worth to a collector?

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! It looks like a World War II Victory revolver with later grips. Give us the serial number off the butt of the gun including any prefix like V.
Yes, that is a 38 Special Victory military and police revolver. It was made late in the war, perhaps 1944 or 1945.
There are a couple of things I see. One, the grips are post-WWII and Second, the butt is missing the lanyard ring and swivel. These can be replaced to return it to its original configuration. In original condition, it is worth around $500. Take off $50-60 for replacement grips and lanyard ring, net after selling the grips on it. The grips on it are worth around $50 or so.
