I agree the iron sights have always been faster for me as well, but as things have become what they are in the country, I have spent a lot of time training for 75’ and beyond head shorts in emergency situations in public places like restaurants. In my area, I am much less likely to be mugged in our grocery store parking lot than the possibility of having to defend my family in a public place from some crazed nut job.

I always thought the red dot on pistols was a gimmick until I aged and the iron sight covered up the head target by the front sight at 75’. But the green dot 32 moa circle has eliminated that aging problem a great deal.

My green dot was fairly easy to zero in with just a few shots, i started at 10 yards, stand up 2 handed, and moved the dials until it shot center. (I never shot from a rest, for me it does not seem to be a real life practical thing to do)
This was a 3" target
