Stopped into my LGS and found this pretty nice Model 65-5 with the always sought after 3" Barrel. The grips on it were not numberd to the gun and kind of beat up, so I added the Altamont Boot grips. Anyone else like the guns with 3" Barrels - Let's see 'em..

Leo, Very nice 3" SD revolver, and the Altamont Boot grips look great! But, how is it to shoot with those boot grips? I, myself do not care for wooden boot grips for shooting.....particularly .357 Mag.! I prefer rubber Combat grips, with a place for your pinkie, to give you a solid grip. I have a Smith M-10 2", wife has a M-36 2" (used to be mine!) and a M-66-1 2 1/2", all have rubber Combat grips. Bob

Nice find Leo....................

I've shown this piece on the forum many times before, but if you really want to see my favorite revolver with a 3" barrel.....

It wasn't manufactured like this........it began life as a military version 1917, but became a custom handgun after returning to the USA post Lend Lease. This has been one of my favorite carry pieces ever since I acquired it some 40 odd years ago. I feels good, carries well, looks sexy, shoots fat booletz, reloads quickly................and makes me smile every time it goes "BANG".

While seemingly completely unrelated these two 3" J frames share the same model number.
One is hammerless ,alloy airweight , fixed sights , and chambered in 32 mag.
The other has a hammer is blackened stainless , adjustable sights , and chambered in 327.
Only a dash number separates them ????

The proportions of the 3" barrel on the K-Frame are not too long and not too short - but Just Right.:)
