Hey everyone,
I recently bought an M&P Shield EZ 9MM Performance Center gun, took it to the range for the first time, and ran into a bit of an issue. Even though the gun was brand new and had been properly cleaned and prepped before going to the range, it jammed every single time I fired.
This wasn't just an occasional jam. It happened consistently with every magazine that came with the gun, sometimes after just one or two shots, and other times after five or six. I fired about 150 rounds through it and had to clear a jam a every few rounds. Never had this issue with any other gun I own.
What's more, the firearms instructor at the range (who's pretty experienced with this model and has it as their CCW) told me he'd never seen this issue with this gun before. So, I'm really wondering if this isn't some ordinary break-in issue? I used both Winchester Whitebox and the Herters 9MM ammo from Bass Pro, which I understand are both basically identical.
Before I reach out to Smith & Wesson for a repair, I thought I'd see if anyone here has experienced a similar issue or has any thoughts on what might be going wrong. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Edit: Firearm is failing to feed. It fails to pull the ammo from mag into the chamber and instead locks the slide back. I then have to release the slide and the gun will fire a round or two before repeating the same issue.
