Your model 29-3 was made after 1983 (first year of the 3-letter prefix for this model). ‘84 or ‘85 would be an educated guess. The 686 ND dates from 1980 to 1985. Your gun likely was shipped in ‘83 or ‘84. There are others here who may be able to provide more specific information.

Nice looking revolvers. Your 686 is probably in the first half of the range jdavis gave you. The first had an AA_ prefix. My no dash 686 has a CML prefix, and is probably a 1985
