Well Ken, at least your 55 isn't in .32 Spl....
Most 55's were indeed take-down, half mags.... After Winchester stopped accepting special orders in 1909 or so, it seems that there was still some demand for this, so they cranked up a new model with these features as standard.
I enjoy carrying and shooting the 55's.... Love the look of the Townsend Whelen Flutes in the stock comb....
Charlie Askins once wrote about having to silver solder a 55 receiver togeather to take out the 'wobble' so it would shoot at all...
