I've got a model 54 that I've had for years. It's impractical to mount a scope on because its not drilled and tapped and the bolt throw is too high. It could be done but it's all original and I have other scoped rifles so I'll leave it unmolested. My old eyes aint what they used to be but this rifle has a vintage Redfield receiver sight and I shoot it well. Anyone else shoot the old model 54? It's the daddy of the Rifleman's rifle the great Winchester model 70.
