I know the grips is a bit over-the-top, but it is about the smallest I feel comfortable with on this gun, and from a manufacturer I personally like (Altamont). There is also an loaded old 5906 in the house, but I think of that as the second line of defense,

My Altamont grips are ordered for the 638 I own. Those are pretty grips.

Almost. It shipped in April 1941 from the factory. More than likely it was sent to the UK as part of the Lend Lease program. That photo is actually an older photo with the wrong stocks on it. This photo has the correct stocks in place; not original but the correct ones for the era. In fact the stocks are within 70,000 of the guns serial number. Not a bad shooter which is why I like it close to me.

An old Hi Point C9 in my night stand, my wife keeps an old J frame Smith in hers...next to the couch there's a M51 Beretta and we keep a CZ83 in the console of my wife's car and I generally carry a Walther CCP holstered or a Smith Hand Ejector in my pocket, depending on my mood...

Well, I keep my "dress pants gun" on my night stand. It is a Charter Arms undercover 38 sp. w/2in. barrel. Sort of like putting my watch on the nightstand and I can engage it like reaching for my watch. Just second nature. But if I know your "coming to dinner" it would be my 629 w/ 240gr. Hornady HP's.😉
