Was rooting around in some ammo cans and found these old cleaning kits that were my dads

I remember seeing these when I was a little kid when he would let me help him clean his guns. I would guess they are from the 60’s.

I remember these also. Hard to believe that the vinyl sleeves survived. Nice memories.

Had a mess of those old rods sleeves long gone. Miss matched , stripped threads...got tired of moving them around...threw them out. At 70 yrs. old I'm too the point if I haven't used something in 6 mons. it either goes for sale or too the dump if nobody else wants it.

The problem with those old cleaning rods was that the metal was so soft grit could become embedded in them.

I had kits just like those, many moons ago. Got this kit from my grandparents house. I don't think it's ever been used, everything is in there including mop and brush.

Jonesy, those look to be in great shape. i'm sure you were glad to find them, as they were your Dad's. I've used ones like those for years, never had any trouble with them, just keep them clean, naturally!

Cool find! Always good to have some extra gear for taking care of the firearms. I have several sets but all newer versions of cleaning kits.

Still use mine like these for shotguns, but definitely not for the .22 and up as bearcat6 says.
