Can anyone recommend an unscented solvent and lube? I use Hoppers but get to much grief from the Mrs over the smell. Thanks

Do what I did. Tell her if she doesn't like what you use, she can clean her own guns.

Use the Hoppes outside and rinse it off with a solvent like CRC Brakleen spray. A good fouling solvent is going to have some smell, Rinsing it off will allow you to finish with a good lube. For a fluid oil, I use Mobil 1. No smell. For a grease, I use Super Lube. You can get it at Harbor Freight .

I have been using Balistol. It does not have much smell at all and I believe it is biodegradable. It has cleaned my pistols very well over the last few years that I have been using it.

I've always loved the smell of Hoppes #9.

Go figure.

+1 for the super lube. Synthetic that does not cake or dry out after years (personal experience). Comes in grease or liquid.
