I just purchased a S&W revolver Serial Number D784354. 38 Special. 4" Barrel. Wondering the Date of Manufacture.

Thanks

Is there a model number inside the crane/yoke area? (Such as 10-3 or similar?)

You have a "floating J". The catalog says the floating J's were 1971-72 (J1-999J99). But like all things S&W that is not always true. I have a Model 36 with s/n 963Jxx and it shipped 3/74. It just got pulled off of the shelve a little bit later. Only a letter to the S&W Historical folks will confirm when your shipped. See the sticky at the top of the gun forums.

OP, welcome to the forum. More than likely your 10-5 shipped in 1975. I have a 10-5 5" barrel model that shipped 5/71. It's s/n is D3661xx.
