My Triple Lock .44 Special cylinder won't open. The action works just fine, and when the gun is disassembled, I can use manipulate the ejector rod through the frame to open the cylinder. The problem appears to be within the cylinder itself because when the sideplate is off, the thumbpiece is pushed all the way forward, there is no further that it can go, and the cylinder still won't open.

David,

Is the Extractor Rod unscrewed?

This is pretty typical.

Ok, problem solved. Not used to these older style ejector rods. An appropriate amount of the correct Loc-Tite was applied.

Shouldn't have to worry about that again....

This is actually a pretty common problem with all S&W revolvers from any era....

Glad it worked out.
