I was born and raised in NYC and MOVED OUT about 35 years ago.To become an LEO in western NY [ yes NYC is not the whole state ] and I am very familiar with the state and NYC laws [ yes they are different ] in NYC they will take any knife with a pocket clip = if the LEO wants to.So stay under 4" blade and dont take it out in public,carry a real small penknife for that,or a SAK = SMALL.You can check online too for NYC and see if they actually list what is legal,seems it changes daily.
