A young hawk hung around for about a week-and-a-half while I was doing some tree work out back. I think he was curious about what was going on. He hadn't fully developed his wariness or fear of humans, and would sit and watch me as I approached. He seemed reluctant to fly away, but he finally would. It was like, "Oh, well, if I have to..." And at different times of the day, I would see him walking around out back. He would walk a while, stop and look around or stare at the ground, then start walking again.
I liked it when he sat on the ladder. Long as he sat there, that gave me an excuse not to climb up and start working again.
I'll admit I missed seeing him each day once he got old enough to strike out on his own for good.
