Great looking 5906. I carried a fixed sight model on duty for many years ( changed to a 4003 TSW ) and never had a problem. Alot of guys wined about the weight but I never noticed. Loved shooting the gun too. I'm a big fan of all the 3rd Gen guns. The M&Ps are winning me over quickly but, I'll always pick an all metal, built like a tank handgun over a plastic frame anytime.

I had a thread in the old forum asking folks if weight was their only concern with the 5906.

I love carrying it as well and it's treated me real nice at IDPA matches. There really isn't anything quite like it anymore. I think that's one of the things I appreciate about it.

I got this a little over a year ago at a local pawn shop. It was NIB. I paid $450.00 for it. I know CDNN has been blowing them out for cheaper, but I've always like the factory adjustable rear. And besides, it was new and I wanted it NOW!

Absolutely mint and I firmly believe that it was never shot except at the factory. The serial # prefix is EKZ and I haven't called S&W to ask about it. I'd imagine it's a late 90's, but am not sure.

It does have the MIM trigger and hammer. I used it throughout the IDPA season last year and it performed very well for me. Gave me a few match wins as well.

I dig the third gen guns, and was about to order a 5906 from summit when they ran out. The prices they are going for are ridiculous.
John, yours looks really nice. It should outlast you.

In that episode of Family Guy Stuie (sp??) had a stainless 1911 but I remember something was wrong about it, they drew the ejection port or something on the wrong side...

I'm not real hip on S&W ser#'s, but I would imagine that that would make mine made somewhere around '06-'07?

Man, I love those RCMP guns!

Are those Melonite or some other finish?

Nice guns gents. This is about as 'pimped out' as my collection gets. The serial puts it at 1989 mfg but it looks like these were not the original sights and the barrel has been jeweled. Love shooting this one. James
