Now I need a 17-2, 29, and few more and I will be complete. Sort of
If the 66 and 686 have been fired they had to of been cleaned by a gunsmith afterwards.

"Sort of"? That phrase cures a world of ills; if you can stop at "a few more", you're better than most of us. My own personal collection of "Grail guns" looks like the table of cups in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. There's always another one, so "choose wisely" :p

A few more is always easy until you get something you didn’t expect. I had NO desire for single shot rifles, I wanted to collect SWs and maybe have a Marlin or two. Well, 11 Marlins in and now two rare(ish) Ruger 1s and I now know there will never be a “sort of” again.

Steven, your 686 was made on Monday, June 22, 1987. The M stamped in the yoke cut and circled on the label indicate it received the hammer nose and hammer nose bushing modification that was implemented on the no dash and -1 magnum versions of the L frames. The mod was due to a particular .357 cartridge causing blowback that could jam the action. That cartridge is no longer manufactured.

Thank you for the info. I am going to print it out and put in the box. My friend told me it had the m stamp it was good to go.

Some very nice revolvers. In case you didn't know, the factory combat grips on your 686 are worth $300 or more, so take good care of them

You can't go wrong with a 686-1 with a 2 1/2" barrel. They are lots of fun. And the 66-1 with pinned and recessed is a desirable model 66. You did good!

I’m not Stevie, but I would be interested in looking closer at columns 4 and 5.
