I heard about a 29-6, blue steel with a 6" barrel. The seller tells me it went back to the factory and had some engraving. I might be able to see it next week. The price is $675., haven't shot one of those since the late 60's. I am not sure if the price is good or not. Is there a way of telling if the engraving was done by S&W? Thanks for the help.

All I can tell you is that the 29-6 is the last great dash # made before S&W got cheap and put in those cast MIM parts. Some love them and see nothing wrong with them, but I hate em. More of the same in this country: the cheapening up of EVERYTHING!

The 29-6 has the endurance package and as such should be a great shooter that can hold up to a lot of heavy/hot loads.

However, you will find some that are transitional with MIM parts. I have a 29-6 with MIM trigger & cylinder release.........the hammer is forged. It's a great shooter and the trigger is great.....smooth & light double-action and single-action breaks like glass!!!!!!!
