OK, how in the heck does one shoot accurately with a tang peep sight on a lever action? I love the idea of a tang peep, but cannot shoot one accurately enough. I look thru it (with the smallest aperture) and see the front sight, its base, and part of the barrel! Try to center the front sight in the huge area is seemingly guess-work. While not as snazzy, the factory buckhorn rear sight on the barrel works alot better for me. Case in point, I had a pair of levers out shooting bowling pins at 150 yards yesterday. One Browning 53 (remake of Winchester 53) in .32-20 with buckhorn rear sight; and one Browning 65 (remake of Winchester 65) in .218 Bee with tang peep. Got 2-3 times as many hits on the pins with the .32-20 (buckhorn sight) than the Bee (tang peep). So, is it just me, or do you have trouble shooting tang peeps as well?!?! :?

And yet, somehow they work just fine ....

What they do is take the curse out of older eyes. As now all you have to do is focus on the front sight and the target. I find that it is easier and faster then trying to line up two sights, plus keep track of the target...especially a moving one.

When using a receiver sight I ignore the rear sight & just look through it to put the front sight on the target. Your eye will align the front sight into the center of the hole in the receiver sight automaticaly. When I'm hunting I usually unscrew the apature in the rear sight & use the larger hole left after I take it out. Hope this helps & doesn't confuse. Frank

Oh, OK! I haven't seen the Quigley movie in a few years...guess I'll have to break it out and watch it again!

Then we're both confusing, Frank. That's exactly what I do, and I shoot much better with a tang sight than I do the buckhorn. Much faster, too.
