Hello everyone, I joined to find out more about two revolvers I just inherited from my father in law. A 357 magnum, SS 4" barrel and a 38 Special CTG SS 4" barrel. Both are in great condition, just needed a cleaning.

As I mentioned in the title, I'm surrounded by liberals here in the state of Calif. A new law will take effect in January requiring us to register to buy ammo. I would move to another state, most likely Idaho but we have grown kids and don't want to be to far away. I don't plan on registering, I will travel out of state to buy ammo before I do that.

As an Marine Corp, Vietnam combat vet, 66 through 69, I'm a conservative that loves this country. I was born in CA and have watched as the liberal/commies have taken over. They are destroying our state and in the not to distant future when all the bills come due and there is no money to pay for it the sh--it will hit the fan.

I am a student of U.S. history and love to read quotes from our founding fathers. I find them on brainyquotes.com , here are a few John Adams quotes.

Posterity! You will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom! I hope you will make a good use of it.

John Adams
----------
The right of a nation to kill a tyrant in case of necessity can no more be doubted than to hang a robber, or kill a flea.

John Adams
----------
Liberty, according to my metaphysics is a self-determining power in an intellectual agent. It implies thought and choice and power.

John Adams
-----------
Abuse of words has been the great instrument of sophistry and chicanery, of party, faction, and division of society.

John Adams
-------------
Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.

John Adams

(FYI - This is why we were formed as a Republic and not a Democracy, I cringe when politicians use democracy to describe our form of government, their lack of knowledge and intelligence is embarrassing )

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! I served around the same time. It was a difficult time. If you can post some pictures of your guns we can tell you more about them. Also open the cylinder and look inside the yoke and give us the model numbers.

God Bless you sir for your service to our country and to your perseverance to stay in what might as well be what's become a 1980's styled European socialist nation compacted into one state. I have many relatives and friends in California that either have become indoctrinated or can't move, it's a sad state of affairs as being from Arizona, our 'neighbor to the west' when I was a kid was a shining light of all things good! Hang tough and welcome to a site that can help to maintain your sanity! :D Blackcloud2

gward789, I'm guessing the 38 with wood grips to be a Model 64 and the shipping date puts it about 1993. The .357 is a Model 681 with a shipping date of 1987. Hope this helps, but these particularly serial numbered guns have wide tolerances when trying to identify their shipping date range. There are others here on the forum with much more knowledge than me, so hang tight!

As did BC2, I also grew-up with CA as a neighbor. Our ranch straddled the river so we were actually residents of both states (although our primary address, vehicle registration and DL's were Arizona).

I went to school (college) in SoCal and my sis in AZ (both as residents).

Once upon a time, I really liked CA and had some wonderful times there. Unfortunately, the politics and people pollution became overwhelming and drove me away.........with (I must say), some resentments too (but that's "a whole nuther story).

You have my sympathy amigo.

Regards,

Geezer

Hello gward789. Welcome to the forum! I like your attitude. I had an older brother that was KIA in VietNam in late November of 1967...Con Thein? Don't know if the spelling was correct. I was in the Marines from 83' - 87' myself, but was lucky to never see combat. Again, welcome and Semper Fi! ;)

Hey from Oklahoma! I'm pretty lucky that I live in a state full of conservatives but we have quite a few liberals and a lot more dummies than I care to admit.
Putting up with the Kalifornia comrades has to be tough!

Welcome to the forum from Idaho. I'm in the northern conservative panhandle, up above Coeur d'Alene. I'm glad you found us. If you ever decide to move to this side of the fence, the northern part is the best (Unless you don't like lots of snow). Stick around, we've got plenty of vets here, and the conversations are friendly. We'll always find room for another member that shares our interests.

Regards,
Gearchecker

God Bless you sir for your service to our country [yessir!! What he said!! I was in 71-75, Yankee Station a lot, Subic Bay a lot.]...... it's a sad state of affairs as being from Arizona, our 'neighbor to the west' ...
Isn't it just ASTOUNDING that you can stand in a certain spot (in AZ), with a fully loaded .44 magnum on your hip, and be perfectly legal. But take just 1 step to the west (across the state line in CA), and you're a dastardly FELON! While perfectly legal, you are a respected and upstanding man in your community, but 1 step to the west and you're the scum, of the planet, a criminal and deserve decades behind bars for your crimes.

It just don't make no sense!!
