Hey there, just thought I would share a tidbit of wisdom that has gotten me out of a jam more than once.
Ever been changing your oil, and the moron that did it before you (wonder who?) overtightened the oil filter, and you can't remove it for the life of you???
Try stabbing it with a phillips head screw driver from the side of the filter, and use the handle to turn the filter counterclockwise, and off it will come!
May be a common trick, but no one ever told me, i had to figure it out myself!

Yes it works, just don't stand under the filter when you do it.... it will still be filled with oil and it may be hot....

Used to have to do that with my Corvair..... I never did go out and buy the correct filter wrench.....

I stopped changing my oil myself years ago.Its just about as cheap to get a lube place to do it and you dont have a bunch of old oil to get rid of.
But you can also take a screw driver and a hammer and tap the filter around the rim and break it loose to.Lots better than stabbing a hole in it and the oil going all over the place.

Moondawg. I totally agree, except I cahnge friends and family's oil, and don't want to buy a wrench for each one. I already own screwdrivers, and hardly need this trick. But when i did, i was glad it was there. I am not saying that it should be done with everyone.
