I'm thinking of buying a Colt SAA Sam Colt Commemorative 45. It has the 7 1/2" barrel a blue finish except for the back strap, trigger guard, trigger, base pin, ejector rod head, engraved cylinder all of which are nickel platted. Less than $1400 and looks new in it's display case. I would buy it as a shooter and look for a 2nd gen cylinder in blue for shooting. What do you all think? The Colt came out in 1961 so it's a fourth year production of the 2nd generation.

I would get it. I got a second gen NRA Commemorative in blue and they are great shooters. Also tend to be a little less than non commemorative.

Is it worth less than the regular Colt SAA? If so, I would buy it at that price, and shoot it,without hesitation. I don't spend that kind of money on one gun........maybe a couple of Smith revolvers, or Ruger pistols. But, I would definitely use it!!!! (y) Bob
