Apparently the Sheriff is using the threat of issueing CCW permits to law abiding citizens to avoid budget cuts. I hope he makes good on his threat.

There's a lot of politics and concern over personal liability about issuing permits here. And he ran on a promise to issue ccw's IIRC. I'd guess there is some reason that otherwise conservative Department keeps saying no ccw's.

We have a lot of good people in this county, but we also have our version of the mentality of "I have rights but no responsibility, and you owe me."
