Does anyone have or know of a website or link for S&W pistol serial number lookup? As I’ve got a 686-4 I’m looking for date of manufacture on as well as potential value.

It was made in 1994. I recently sold a 686-6 much like yours but with fewer blemishes for $750. But, it had the Hilary Hole and some aftermarket grips. Let's see what others think.

I believe it is a hammer block. Some S&W revolvers don't have hammer mounted firing pins.

You’re ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! As the firing pin was moved from the hammer, internally. To accommodate that REDONKULUS p.o.💩.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! You have what appears to be a WWII British Service Revolver that has been modified to shorten the barrel, change the front sight, fill the lanyard swivel hole, reamed for .38 Special and plated in nickel. Maybe worth $300 at the most.

Looks like a model 13 from 1993. That is a very desirable revolver with the 3 inch barrel and is worth around $850, and $100 more if the original box and documents are included
