I’m certainly no expert, but I have a 4” 686, purchased this past summer, and that’s what the front sight on it looks like.

I think the front sight was replaced. All the early 686s I have seen have a forged as part of the barrel front sight. It does look like the one one my newer 686-6’s

63B80BA5-21A4-40C6-B172-3CDCBEA4A82B.jpeg This is my 686-6. I believe no dash through dash 4 are all forged while dash 5 & 6 are pinned. I suspect the blade was damaged on yours and someone had it milled off then cut out to insert a new pinned blade. Notice that the ramp leading to the blade is taller on the old guns. Your pin is in the upper third of the ramp. On my dash 6 the ramp is not as tall and the pin is pretty close to being centered
