I have this S&W 1917 that appears to be refinished. The barrel, frame, stock grip panels, and butt #s all match but the cylinder has an additional 6 digit serial number. The one on the left- 109XXX is the correct matching number. Other S&W 'experts' couldn't come to a conclusion. Any thoughts?

Probably a assembly number used by S&W in production. Bob

No. Location is wrong , as well as the format.
If not for the initial zero, I'd say the cylinder was swapped from another gun. As is, I'm stumped.

Welcome to the forum, cylinder was slated for another gun but then was put on yours instead it happens for whatever reason. Your gun is original except for the re-finish. Post pics of the whole gun.
