S&W 19-3 Age and Frame Size?

Hi All…

New to the forum and this is my first post.

I just acquired a 19-3 Nickel .357 revolver and can use some assistance.

Curious as to year of manufacture. Serial number is 7K76xxx (purposely leaving off last 3 digits).

When I remove the grip there is a capital N on the square grip frame. Is that an indication that it is an N frame? While I will keep the original, I’d like to change the grip.

The capital N indicates the gun was nickeled at the factory. The Model 19 is a K frame.
7K77xxx, a nickel Model 19-3 shipped in June 1976. I suspect yours would have shipped close to that time.

My 19-2 loves to change grips.
