I picked this Ruger up a couple of weeks ago. It's a good shooter that didn't break the bank to buy it. I shot 125 gr 357mag and 38spl 130 gr JRN. I prefer the 38spl. Magnums are not my thing anymore. I think it's serial number places it around 1981. I do like the six series because it has a full grip frame. I think it weighs an ounce more than a S&W model 19.

My first revolver was a 4 inch Security Six. Bought back in the late 70s if I remember correctly. Built like a tank. Finally got rid of it and moved on to other revolvers like S&W.

Hell yeah, adjustable sight .357 with shrouded ejector rod and short barrel, and built like a tank, what's not to love about it?

That is a great Ruger addition and looks to be in fine condition!

I don't think it was shot much before I got it.
I had a 6" (before it was stolen) - good shooters!

I have had several variations of the Security Six over the past 50 years, both blue and stainless and all were fine weapons. I currently own a 4" blue .357 that was an issue sidearm of a local sheriff's office in the 1970's. It has an action job done by Jim Clark, Sr. with front and rear sites from Clark's. The sheriff had local engraver E. C. Prudhomme engrave the gun as a presentation piece to the deputy it belonged to upon his retirement. Because of age and medical issues, I have only a few revolvers left and I don't shoot that much anymore but this one is staying with me until my grandson eventually gets it.

I had a 4" Stainless Security Six back when I was in the Army. I really liked it, even better than their GP100.

GP100 can't hold a candle to the old-school Security Six. Beautiful lines.

My first centerfire handgun was a Ruger Security Six. It was stainless with a 6" barrel. The gun also had a custom action job. I entered my first speed shoot with the gun, about a month after the purchase. I took first place in the single action class, and second place in the double action class. I switched grips out to Pachmayer's, but they didn't feel as good as I expected. Later found a pair of Fuzzy Farrant's reverse taper wood grips. I stripped the crappy finish off them and just stained and sealed the natural wood. I loved the fit after that. It was 1980 when I got the Ruger, but I sold it in 1982 to buy a then new 686 4". Even though I missed the Ruger, I truly loved the S&W.
