Revolver Prices on the Rise

Yea man .. I mentioned in another thread that I scan Armslist couple of times a week just to see whats out there and revolver prices especially on Smiths is going nuts. I don't know if these guys are getting their asking price but whew!

I wouldnt have thought revolvers would have been impacted by the rush of new buyers but prices are definitely trending high.

I think since plastic semiautos are sold out, demand is shifting toward revolvers, so prices naturally go up.

I spent part of the morning at the LGS talking with customers. The revolvers they have are all between $675 and $1400 with most snubs at $750-$800. SP101, Kimber, S&W J frame and up to a GP101 and model 27.

No used revolvers in stock.

It is a good time to sell if you have duplicates or some you don't intend to be using. Just remember that they will likely cost even more to replace....

I watch a local site every day. People think cause they own something it's really special and worth a lot more. 950.00 for a 66 no dash with Pacs. Yikes. 650 for a use Sig P365, might as well go to Cabelas and buy a new one.

Yes, I have seen some pretty outrageous prices being asked, but don't think they are getting it. I recently saw a 64-3 with target grips for the price of $550. I also have seen some $800 and up, 4" model 66's

I sometimes wonder if those prices are to attract some of the prohibited during the famine.

If you want to see some inflated prices, go buy some lumber. Prices on .40 retention especially. They doubled.

How many times do we see threads where folks tell newbies to get a revolver because it is easier to operate (not necessarily shoot better though.) With most 9, 40 and 45 semis gone or hard to find, 38/357 becomes the next popular item.

We have seen the same as people can't find semis and are buying up what they are able to find available.

For months, it was hard to get in to the gun store, now I can go in, but the shelves are bare.

No kidding; I was going to try a pot roast recipes until I saw the price. When "chuck chop" (aka ground beef) is running $5/lb and the roast @ $7.50, chicken and wild caught seafood is looking better and better.

I generally keep the guns that I have had for many years. I have a few .38/.357 older S&W revolvers, which I like better than the new Smith's. They were made in the 70's and early 80's. But, more recently, bought some plastic Rugers.......SR22 and last year, I finally got a Ruger LC9s. for CCW. Hope I live long enough to shoot it! This Covid 19 stuff has got to me, but, I try to be careful.....by distancing from others, wearing a mask in stores.....but I'm a loner type, so being alone doesn't bother me a bit!!!! Bob

I just watched a used .44 Magnum Ruger RedHawk go out the store for $825... Prices are good.

Good God.......first of all, stay away from J frames in .357 and second of all.......don't worry about new prices.......just buy up all the old pre-lock S&Ws you can afford.

I'm amazed that it's necessary to even post this.

As some may know, I favor the 45 ACP, N frame. Got maybe a dozen of them but always looking for more. At least three have the dreaded lock. Want to hear something, a real big secret? They all go bang when I pull he trigger. Two of them ( Model 22-4s) qualify as my EDC.

I have a few new ones and a few old ones and like them all. Given the choice, I would take a pre-lock before a newer gun, but wont let the lock stop me from a deal on the right revolver. Last summer when the LGS had a 20% all used handguns sale, I jumped in the car to get the 3" 686-6 I knew they had. It had been tempting at $599, but with the 20% off price of $479, I would have been foolish to pass it up

Welcome to the forum. I don't know if there is a premium for the diplomatic issue or not. I would value a 19-5 like yours at probably $750, give or take 10%
