In general is it possible to just drop in old S&W revolver parts into more recently manufactured revolvers? Will a part for an older N-frame fit in a new N-frame? I want to put a different trigger into my 627 but all the N-frame triggers out there are for model 27's and 29's.

Hey R,

Some do. Some don't. Best way is to use a hammer & trigger together (mated) using the hand from the revolver in question. No guarantees.

The Apex & Power Custom usually fit well. "Some fitting req'd". (remember putting Christmas Toys together?) LOL

Hope this helps.

Later, Mark

The triggers appear the same but the hammers are different. Even if you are able to fit an older model trigger, it likely would not mate with the new style hammer without expert gunsmith fitting.

Different engineering dash levels also moved from a hammer mounted firing pin to a different hammer block design.

So... dash level is likely necessary as well.
