Really nice, early K22

This was to be the start of my S&W collection a few years back.
I was at the Big Reno show looking for a nice M17 or K22 for a shooter. At the time, I was collecting Winchester lever rifles and didn't know anything about S&W's.
Anyway, I spotted this K22 #4339 and fell in love with the low number revolver. I had no clue as to the one line address or the LERK on this revolver.
After some research, I found these revolvers to be highly collectible. So, my shooter turned into a collectible, and I never fired it.
A little later, I lettered it. No biggie, but it was shipped on my 5th birthday in 1947.
I had the gold box numbered to the gun, and decided to get all the tools, which I have now. One of my favorites now and thought I might share it with the good folks on this forum. Big Larry

Verah nice. 1947's are special to me as I have my father's. I lettered it as well and it shipped in Nov 1947. Original box but no original tools to my knowledge.

after seeing your set up the aluminum hoop in the box could well be original.

Mine came with both rods and the early Helpful Hints. I acquired the original type wax paper and the SAT later on when I got into collecting. What is your serial number? Must be close to mine, and could be even lower. Big Larry

That's a pretty one Larry, but I wouldn't call it "early". A prewar one from the 30's would be early.

True. I have one of those boxed as well, but I would consider a post war K22 # 4339, early. Entirely different revolver too. Big Larry

Very nice shooting iron there larry! I found a 1948 K22 combat masterpiece with original diamond magnas yesterday for 485$. I haven’t stopped thinking about it. Its a clean shooter that i need like a hole in the head!

Nope. Mine is over twice your s/n. K8726. It shipped Nov 20, 1947. I'm guessing yours shipped in late Sept or Oct of 1947.

That LERK thing has me intrigued. As I'm such an old codger it'd probably be about my age. A 1947 with s/n 699 is sure pretty but looks like it would cost about twice as much (1000+) as I am willing to divulge to the wife. Sure is pretty. Is it worth going to the dog house for a while?

Mine was shipped on my 5th birthday. 9-23-1947. It is in way better shape than I am. Big Larry
