Some of our Arizona group hooked up for a local gun show, noticed more long rifles, wheelguns and not as many black rifles compared to earlier this year.
Another day last week we spent some time at a private range, brought a 27-2/5" and a Pro Series 686P/5". Shot some .357mag Fiocchi JHP and some handloads, practiced getting off the "X" vigorously. Then it was time for the long range challenge, clay pigeons @~100 paces off hand standing. Had more misses than hits, but the handloaded Remington 140gr SJHPs (2011,AA#9,1500s) and 158gr Nosler JHPs made some hits, IIRC only one hit with the 686P and several with the 27-2.
With 100+ degrees it didn't take long for the cylinders to heat up too hot to touch, when one got too hot we switched off to the other. I really enjoy shooting the like new 27-2, it balances very, very well in these ancient muffs.
After a while we went inside and enjoyed the a/c and ice cube well water, no crappy city water.
And a good time was had by all.
