I made it out to the range today with the marlin LTDII 45/70 and tried a new load.
I casted up a batch of the lee 340 gr lfn plain base bullets and left them air cooled and unsized (.459).I used 2 coats of lee tumble lube and loaded them up.
data on target.I am going to use this load this weekend on a hog hunt. .

I didn't use my chrony today...just lazy on my part.with my 24" barrel I would say right at 1500 fps would be very close.it would be a good thump on a close range pig.the best part is no leading in the marlin .the LTDII has ballard rifling and not micro-groove which helps.
I am taking my camera sunday on the hunt.pics to follow.
