I inherited a Model 61 from my Grandfather and it has the .22 L Riffle (shot only) barrel. For those not familiar with it Winchester made them in .22 Long, and short for most and .22 LR (shot only) which is basicly a scatter gun. My question is, are the barrels interchangable? I'm not talking about the octagon barrel of the original run. My other question is how does the smooth bore barrel shoot rifle rounds? I've read that some do shoot it that way. Thanks for and insight.

Model 61's aren't cheap and I would think the smooth bore versions would be at the top of the list.

I'd get it appraised and if you're going to shoot it, limit it to the .22 shot cartridges.
My Grandfathers been gone a long time so I've had it and used it a bit. Probably keep it forever.
Thanks for the reply.
