I was checking the forums out before joining and read that sawing off the buffer tube wouldn't affect the functionality of the 15-22 pistol. Obviously. Just stating that before someone misunderstands what I'm getting at.

But here is my real question -

If "they" decide that braces are against the law in the near future and someone wants to be done with the headache, BS, stamps, taxes, etc., could they just cut off the buffer tube as a remedy and be done with this issue completely?

Or will they still be caught up in the race because it was originally created with a buffer tube and a brace?

I've been thinking about this a lot. Any info or insight into this would be greatly appreciated. I have been around pewpews my whole life but this is the first time I've really dove into the pettiness and details of these laws..and laws possibly coming down the pike.

Also, while I'm at it - Can someone explain this to me? I've tried looking up heights / lengths / and the proposal itself. However, I'm only finding the overall length of the pistol / firearm itself..and nothing relating to the height of the brace.

I apologize for all the questions. I'm just hoping to get some insight from someone who has been in the trenches of these proposals.

Thank you for clearing that up. I received the answers -
Turn the pistol over.
Pay the 200 for the SBR "tax".

That just didn't seem right to me. I was just starting to dig through the actual proposal.
Then you answered.

Although I don't agree with the law at all, if push came to shove, I wouldn't mind a
Han Solo style 15-22. It can be cut and capped to look pro..

Thanks again.
