Looks like a manufacturing defect, but it shouldn't hurt the function of the magazine. Maybe it was returned because of that, but it appears to just be cosmetic

Injection molded plastic will always have 'bumps'. If they work don't worry about it. I'd be more concerned with what goes in them than the mags themselves.

Go forth and be happy. S&W ONLY makes 15-22 magazines.........Years ago another mag company started a knock off mag........S&W sued and won.

BTW, they don't 'look' counterfeit to me.

Years from now it will be a collectors item and worth tons of money as long as you have the original package it came it!

As long as it works it's fine, doubt it is a fake
