Pete Kuhlhoff, Shooting Editor for Argosy Magazine, received one of the first 44 Magnums, S147213, and published an article about it that appeared in the May 1956 issue of Argosy Magazine. He fired the revolver about 100 times for the article before he ran out of ammo, and probably never fired the gun again as it remains in near new condition, as does the special presentation case made for it (S&W logo inside the lid so it would be seen when the revolver and case were photographed).

Just look at the color and figure in those target stocks!

My dad had subscriptions to both Argosy and True. I loved Pete's gun articles.

Beautiful. I seen a picture of some of his guns and there were stacks of them in the boxes and they were selling them off in lots.

You know, Doc, I've gotten to where I'm afraid to open your posts. My poor old heart can't take that much excitement.

Wish I could say I had something even half as nice.
