I had a 40ve until recently. Loved it and sorta regret selling it, but it went to finance the purchase of a custom carry revolver so.....
It is a lot of gun for the money. No target piece but it never claimed to be either. Just good, reliable combat accuracy. Mine never choked on anything, including many different handloads.
I have a HKS mag loader that works great on standard factory mags. PM me if you are interested and I will send it out to you, no charge. It isn't doing me any good.
