I have a good collection but no S&W's, so now I have 2 new ones. One is the regular standard 627 with 8 shots, and the other is a 686P (7 shots) with 5" bbl and unfluted cylinder. They both have the lock, but I'm not going to fool with it at all, and not use it either. Did I do good or not?

Those 5" 686Ps are hard to come by. I tried to find one for a few weeks. Ended up with 6" which is just fine. Enjoy your new toys?

Short answer: Yes!

Longer answer: The 686 is a fine .357 Magnum, and the eight shot N frames have become another favorite of mine. Congrats!
