The front handguard doesnt have much of a heat shield. I upgraded to a Magpul
New M&P15 Sport II Owner
On way in to pick up my M&P15 Sport II from the FFL, the model I'm getting has the M4 handguard & A2 Front Sight.
Any suggestions for upgrading??

ditto on the heat shield I can shoot Tula 20 rounds for $5 and being x-ring at 50 yards all day long With a red dot

Fine looking Smith and a nice set up with the optics!
I have a similar setup without the optics. (Basic Sport II) Heard about an optic that is offset to the side a little so iron sights work or optics. My electronic earmuffs make ait a little hard to get the right hold on the rifle as they are a little think. Thinking a sight offset to the side would solve that also.

Before getting my Sport II & a few other long guns (THANK YOU STIMULUS!!!), I shot mainly handgun using earmuffs. However for comfort reasons, when shooting long gun (both rifle & shotgun), I use the in-ear hearing protection. However I also know/realize everyone has their own preferences.I have a similar setup without the optics. I switched out the factory M4 handguard for a Magpul, the optic is a Vortex Crossfire, the sling is from Blackhawk Tactical, & the stock is VLTOR. Just trying to figure the grip now.
On a few long guns and I got a couple of shoot an inch at 200 yards. What does MP sport I've got I don't shoot over a hundred what is a fun gun to shoot if I was in a pie plate at a hundred yards standing I'm a happy boy
