Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! You have a .38 Military & Police revolver from the early 1920's...maybe 1923. Would you post a picture of the right side of the gun? There is no model number on the gun because S&W did not implement model numbers until 1957. The number on the butt is the official serial number of the gun. Other numbers are only used during manufacturing. Is it nickel plated? It's hard to tell from your pictures.
