I’m new to this site. Was left by my dad a Smith & Wesson .22 LR CTG, 6 shot, SN K2917xx, behind the yolk is P 823443, does not have original grips.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I expect you've got a pre-17 or pre-18 .22LR version of the Combat Masterpiece. It's got a pinned barrel, and no underlug.

These are generally very well made. I don't have my Standard Catalog nearby, but someone with the volume can let you know the year it likely shipped. It should be before 1957.

as @mrerick said - from 1957, a K22 Combat Masterpiece or what would later be known as the model 18.

The 'combat' description is due to the 4" barrel and ramp sight as opposed to the more often seen 6" barrel with patrige sight..

the grips you need are for a square butt K frame, S&W's medium sized frame.

it most likely came with the diamond center, medallion style grips like these :

I'd say you've got a pre model Combat Masterpiece there? In later years of production they called them model 18s.
