I've always liked the location of the safety selector on Mossberg 500 shotguns but not the flat plastic selector button. Smooth , fast operation can be problematic. I replaced the factory selector with a machined aluminum piece from NDZ Performance via Midway and the improvement is 100% of the OEM OPpart. I installed mine on my 20 ga. 500C house gun and it was easy even with my bad hands. Just take care to not lose the tiny detent ball and spring.

My 500 sits in a corner; never has had the safety on and never will; it's a HD gun in "cruiser ready" mode - just rack a round and pull the trigger.

Nope, just havwe no need for that safety on a gun that isn't used in the field. Since shotguns are not drop safe, using a safety, especially the one on the Mossberg, is simply unnecessary
