WHEW!!! Hobbled by 'Gander Mt.' today and picked up some 22 MAG. Just about all I am in the market for these days. It keeps creeping up. Saw some Remington UMC stuff in bulk. The big yellow boxes. 45's were $139.00 + 6% tax for I believe 250 rounds. That is just south of $30.00 a box of 50. Sure glad I reload my own. Gettin rough out there for sure. #:-s :-w :ymsick:

I had a good find today. I couldn't wait for my dies and bullets to come in to shoot my new 41 mag Blackhawk. So I went in to my local shop and asked about the Remington factory loads he had. "Yup, just under $40 but if you are not set on the Remingtons, I have some old PMC stuff in the basement that came from an estate." I say sure and he produces two boxes of PMC 210 grain JHP for $45. I bought those quick and he is holding the other 4 boxes he has for me to buy next week. They have always treated me good there even though I am not a big spender.

Tusker, Forester,

I went into Gander last weekend for Rem 44 Mag 240 SP at $28/box 25. Only time I've seen them in a long time. It's what I hunt with, and my regular hunter is sighted in for 100 yds. So, I can trust it to be on target. I found that if I switch around to differnt rounds I can't be that confident at distance for hunting. They had very few 44 Mags in stock.

I went down to Cabela's the week before that and they only had 5 boxes 44 ammo. Not any I was wanting, but got some Win 44 210 SilerTips for $24/box 20. I have them on hand for a protection rather than hunting.

I've tried 200 gr Honadays, but wasn't to convinced on them. I have tride the PMC in 158 .357 and they were OK. I did have very bad luck with some American Eagle a few years back, so I stick with what works and doesn't cause concern.

There isn't much out there around here. What is here, is expensive. I hope to start reloading this year if things work out.

Anyway, you never can have too much ammo, so I get it when I can.

WG~ I hear ya! I always loaded for hunting, for the most part. I have used my same loads for over 20 years. They work, I know they can be trusted so I rarely look else where. I can load a box of 50 44 / 41 mags for about $3.50, or so. Having stocked up years ago, my cost remains constant. :)

Yup Tusker,

I've used this Rem round for 22 years in the same 629. That is why I get as many as possible. I had a Gunshow source that I got it for $12 a box. I got a lot then, He can't get it now. I'm below 1000 rounds of 44 ammo, so I'll probably go back to Gander for the rest of what they have. To get back up there!

If I have to switch, it'll probably get me into reloading.

BTW Tusker,

How much were the 22 Mags? Last time I got it was $26 for 250 brick of Win Super X Full Metel or Full Metel Hollow points. Man, I love shootin' 22 Mags.
WG- Solid point $12.99 - hollow point $14.99 CCI all-- they had no Fed Premium . I will pick some up elsewhere. I have over a case of 22 Mags on hand. :) These are the baby's. that uses it.
