Wasn't sure if anyone could help or knew of someone that could. I'm in need of a hammer for a model 60 as the one I recently was given had half of the spur broke off. Any information would be appreciated.
Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Don't limit your search to just Model 60 parts. Any J frame hammer, both SS and case colored, will work. Of course, the hammer you have will also work.
I'll have to see if looking at j frame hammers instead of model 60 hammers does anything different with results. Mine does work just the spur on it is half of what it was
Do as kevin said.......then learn to shoot DA. My M-36 had it's hammer 'bobbed' by me for carry, many years ago. I gave it to my wife, but she has difficulty pulling the trigger. So. I had an original hammer installed, for her to shoot SA. It has a 'flash chromed hammer', that's S&W's term for the steel, that looks exactly like yours. No reason you couldn't use it for your gun. I agree with the preceding posts. All defensive shooting with a DA revolver should NEVER be out of a cocked gun. Grind down and remove what's left of the spur; a gunsmith could do a nice job unless you can do it yourself.
