Big Smith catalogue says 59I thought it was a 659.
alloy receiver but definitely Ss slide, definitely a 59I know 459 was alloy receiver with steel slide, 559 was all steel, 659 was all stainless, never heard of stainless slide on aluminum receiver.
Concur on the “rare” guns. According to Supica and Nahas in their 4th addition there are at least two known examples of what I have described. Win, lose or draw this one is still a nice 59 for the money. You’ll be safe out there and thank you. Most likely it's had the finish removed from the alloy frame and the slide has been plated and looks like stainless.
Everyone who sells something like this claims they have something "rare" and it's one of kind. If there's no record or anyone else ever hearing of something then it's usually not what the seller claims. Gunshows and gun shops are full of guys selling "rare" guns.
