Are you sure it is BAE6351 and not BEA6351?
My book (3rd Edition) doesn't list any BAE prefix, but it lists BEA as August 1988.

Well, the book lists the following 3-alpha-4-digit serial number ranges
January 1988 AYExxxx-AYMxxxx
July 1988 BBFxxxx
October 1988 BBT2293
So I guess BAE6351 must fall in the February 1 - June 30 period of 1988, probably somewhere in around the middle of that time range.

Don't get caught up in thinking that the SCSW is an exhaustive repository of info. It was written by enthusiasts, not the factory. They (and their many contributors) did the very best they could. It's a great resource even if it's not "perfect"!

Nice model 36! Looks to be in great shape, a nice shooter. Range report to follow soon? Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thanks. Yes, absolutely, a trip to the range is in the near future. This one and the 686-2 that I bought have been sitting in someone’s safe for the most part, so It’s time for them to stretch their legs.
