I have a nice four inch 19-3 that, because of my ham handed clumsiness, now requires a new rear sight blade.

Is this a installation that can be done w/o resort to a gunsmith?

Where would be the best place to turn for a correct OEM S&W rear sight blade.

I realize the height of the blade would depend on the barrel length.

Would a white outline rear sight blade work?

Thank you very much.

Sincerely. bruce

The rear sight blade is replaceable . First you must remove the entire rear sight. NOW BE CAREFUL on ther left side of the site blace there is a windage nut on the left side is the windage screw. ON THE WINDAGE SCREW there is a plunger and a spring under that plunger BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOOSE THEM !! You will need two small screw drivers flat heads to remover the nut and screw. The blade threads on the screw. Hold the windage screw and turn of the windage nut Screw Blade with the spring and plunger come out the right side of the sight assembly . .. Good Luck

Very much appreciate the most helpful responses. Until this past week, I'd never done more than replace grips on a S&W revolver. Now, I've moved up to minor repairs! Last time I had to pay $50 to get a hammer nose replaced. No idea what this rear sight would have cost. Than you very much! Sincerely. bruce.
